Cooper's Crossroad is thrilled to announce our partnership with The ARC Collaborative, a program of the Keene School District for emotionally troubled and at-risk children based at Symonds School. Together, we are designing a mental health intervention program for our students. This
new program is designed to be an component of the therapeutic programming provided by ARC and will be available to children from ages 5-12 years of age.

Most of our students have experienced significant chronic stress and complex trauma in their lives. There is a growing body of research indicating the therapeutic benefits of working with and riding horses under the guidance of trained mental health and equestrian specialists. This research is demonstrating the therapeutic benefits for children with a range of mental health concerns, especially those with history of complex
trauma.

The students in the ARC experience low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and
difficulty regulating their behavior and emotions. We believe that experience grooming, walking, and riding horses as well as engaging in barn chores will contribute to our students developing healthy attachments to animals and humans, better regulate emotions and behavior, and improved self-esteem and sense of personal competence.

On July 22, 2018 we were proud to host our first Family 5K at our home base, Dusty Dog Horse Farm in Keene, NH. It was a cloudy, rainy, inspiring, and hopeful day that brought more than 75 runners and walkers together to support our mission to raise awareness of the profound and insidious effects of Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences. We were overwhelmed by the turnout and so grateful for the interest and support for our growing organization. Thank you so much for everyone who attended, volunteered, and shared the event!

Since opening our doors in 2017 we have been working steadily to become a vital and accessible resource for the treatment of Trauma in New England. We are beyond thrilled to announce that we've raised over $15,000 in donations and are on track to triple that in 2018.

Our first fundraising event, a Cocktail Party complete with guest speakers and dancing, was held at the Keene Country Club back in January. It was an energizing night and we were honored to introduce our Founding Members who came from all over the country to attend. You can see the excitement in the pictures below!

We've got some great events lined up for June and July. Be sure to check out our Panel Discussion happening on June 6th starting at 6pm and our 5K Family Run happening on July 22nd at 8:30am.
